Hi there, Yorkie fans! I picked my people here in Seattle because I knew they’d take very good care of me. Sure, what Yorkie person wouldn’t, right? Well, my people learned in August, when I was 4 months old, that I had a liver shunt. On October 18th, I was taken over to Washington State University where I was treated by Dr. Seguin. Surgery revealed that approximately 90% of my blood was being diverted by the shunt, and my liver was only 30% of the size it should be. It was stated that without the surgery, I only had about another three months to live! However, it was successful, and Dr. Seguin expects me to have a full recovery! But please.... I strongly urge everyone, either thinking of getting a Yorkie, or those of you that already have them... PLEASE make sure you’re aware of this condition! This is an excellent site for information, and I thank my “brother” Shooter for helping me through this most difficult of times. Love to all the Yorkies. If you would like to e-mail me, or my human “sister” Leslie, you may do so at wholelottarayna@hotmail.com. | |
